First US edition, first printing. Original black cloth with yellow lettering to spine and front panel, in the Raymond Thayer designed dustwrapper. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean throughout. There are a handful of very light spots to fore- and upper edges. Spine tips are softened and lightly rubbed. In the rubbed, nicked, lightly soiled, original dustwrapper, with a 1 cm closed tear (with associated crease) to the lower edge of the rear panel, and a 1.5 cm tear to the upper edge of the front panel, both neatly sealed with tape to the verso. Neatly price-clipped to the upper edge of the front flap.
