First edition, first printing. Original blue cloth with gilt titles and decorations the the spine and upper board. Illustrated with a tissue-guarded colour frontispiece, a fold-out map, and black and white photographs throughout. A very good or better copy, the binding square and firm, the extremities with minor rubbing and bumping with a small nick to the bottom edge of the front board. The inner hinge is cracked but holding firm. The contents, with light offsetting to the endpapers, are otherwise clean throughout and without stamps or inscriptions.
