First edition, first printing. Publisher's original burgundy cloth with titles in gilt at the spine, in the John Piper illustrated dustwrapper. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the extremities very lightly rubbed. The contents, with a tiny mark to the closed text block fore-edge and a bookplate on the front pastedown, are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the lightly rubbed and creased original dustwrapper which has a tiny closed tear at the head of the spine. Not price-clipped (18s on the front flap).
