ACROSS GREENLAND'S ICE-FIELDS The Adventures of Nansen and Peary on the Great Ice-Cap.

First edition, first printing. Original blue cloth with gilt titles and a white snow design to the spine, as well as a dark blue and white polar bear design which wraps around to the upper board, where there are additional dark blue titles. Dark grey top edge. Green floral endpapers. Illustrated with 12 black and white plates, mostly engravings with a few photographs. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the extremities lightly rubbed and bumped, the spine faded. The contents are entirely complete, with a 1897 Sunday school prize bookplate to the front pastedown, the remnants of a small peeled off label to the rear pastedown, and showing a little offsetting to the endpapers, some spotting to the text block edges, a few creases to page corners and a few small stains to pages 196-197.

A recounting of Fridtjof Nansen's and Robert Peary's expeditions to the Arctic Circle.
