First edition, first printing. Publisher's original tan card covers with black titles to the spine and upper panel. Perfect bound. 17 loose illustrated plates with wraparound band, laid in to rear pocket as issued. An excellent better than very good copy, the binding square and firm, with mild rubbing and creasing to the extremities and light toning to the front panel. The contents, with a little offsetting on the last page, are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. The plates are lightly toned to the margins, some with a little creasing to the extremities. Plate I has a central patch of offsetting from the tape on the wraparound band.
A thorough guide to the camel brands used in Kordofán (former province of Sudan), including their names, designs and positioning (which is both described and illustrated); the names of camel owning tribes and words used to describe camels at different ages. Scarce in commerce.
