GETTING TO KNOW THE GENERAL The Story of an Involvement.

First edition, first printing. Original green cloth with gilt lettering to the spine, in dustwrapper. A very near fine copy, tight, square and without marks or inscriptions. Minor offset-toning to the front endpaper. A small label seems to have been removed from the front pastedown, leaving a small rough patch (3cm x 1.5cm) now obscured by the front flap of the jacket. The dustwrapper itself is very fine, with no blemishes to mention. Not price-clipped and correctly priced (£8.95 net) to the front flap.

Greene's personal memoir (based on five years worth of diaries) of his friendship with General Omar Torrijos Herrera, ruler of Panama from 1968-81, and of the author's many visits to "this bizarre and beautiful little country".
