Inscribed by the author in blue ink on the half-title, reading "Best wishes / Trefor Jones / 10 November 2007". A poignant collection of over 1,500 epitaphs from the graves of British and Commonwealth soldiers who died during the First World War, many alongside biographical details of each individual soldier and their families. The epitaphs were chosen by the bereaved families, and show a vast and moving range of feelings and sentiments, from patriotic pride to despair at the futility at war, or simply plain and intimate vows of affection.
