First editions, first printings. Two volumes. Original black cloth with gilt titles to the spines, in dustwrappers. 'The War Commentaries' has black and white map endpapers and 'The War Broadcasts' is illustrated with black and white photographic plates bound in at the centre. Both are near fine copies, the bindings square and firm with minor bumping to the the extremities. The contents are clean throughout and without stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the very lightly rubbed and creased dustwrappers which are otherwise without loss or tears. A collection of previously unpublished material from Orwell's time working as Talks Producer at the BBC broadcasting to India in the Eastern Service from 1941 to 1943, a period which West argues shaped Orwell's political viewpoints and the themes of his writing.
