PICCADILLY TO PALL MALL: Manners, Morals, and Man.

First edition, first printing. Handsomely bound by Riviere & Son in contemporary full tan calf, the boards ruled in gilt, the spine with five raised bands, compartments richly decorated in gilt and with morocco title labels lettered in gilt. Elaborate gilt turn-ins. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. Illustrated with two tissue-guarded photogravure plates by Alvin Langdon Coburn. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm with a few minor scuffs to the boards. The contents with some light scattered foxing to page edges are otherwise clean throughout and remain free from any previous owners' inscriptions or stamps. An attractive copy.

An exploration of the changing culture and fashions of central London at the beginning of the twentieth century, containing two photographs (St. James's Palace and The Empire Theatre) by the celebrated photographer and key figure in the development of American pictorialism, Alvin Langdon Coburn (1882-1966).
