First edition, first printing. Signed and inscribed by the author. Publisher's original grey cloth with titles in gilt to the spine, in dustwrapper. Illustrated with black and white photographs. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little rubbing and a hint of fading to the extremities. The contents with a minor mark to the textblock edge are otherwise clean throughout and free from any previous owners' inscriptions or stamps. Complete in the very good lightly rubbed dustwrapper which has a couple of light scratches and some minor shelf-wear to the extremities. Not price-clipped (£14.95 to the front flap).
Signed by the author in blue ink to the title page and additionally inscribed to the front free endpaper: "For Fergus and Joyce / from an old friend, / with affectionate wishes. / Roy". An in-depth biography exploring the career and personal life of the actor Rex Harrison, perhaps best know for his role as Professor Henry Higgins in 'My Fair Lady'. The recipients of the present copy were Sir Fergus and Lady Joyce Montgomery. Sir Fergus (1927-2013) was a Conservative member of Parliament for more than thirty years, who twice served as Margaret Thatcher's Parliamentary Private Secretary, as well as a well known supporter of the Performing Arts.
