Four titles bound as one work. Handsomely bound in dark brown morocco with extensive blind-stamped decoration to the boards, brass edging and a brass clasp. The spine with five raised bands, blind-stamped decoration to the compartments and titles in gilt. All page edges rose-gilt with beautiful gauffering. Original dark blue silk ribbon bookmarks and purple morocco slipcase. Illustrated with a wonderfully vibrant illuminated chromolithographic title page and frontispiece by Samuel Stanesby and three further illuminated titles. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm, the brass bright and the clasp secure. The contents with a small neat contemporary previous owner's name in ink to the head of the first printed title page and the very occasional dot of foxing to a couple of page margins are otherwise in good order and clean throughout. The slipcase with wear to the corners, a minor tear to the flap and a little rubbing, nevertheless remains in remarkably good condition.
A particularly attractive nineteenth-century prayer book. Beautifully produced and very tactile.
