First editions, first printings. Two volumes. Original navy cloth with gilt titles to the spines, in dustwrappers. Illustrated throughout in black and white with photographs, maps and drawings, some of which are fold-out. Near very good copies, the bindings firm, volume II with a lean to the spine, a little cracking and exposed webbing to the rear inner hinge and slight buckling to the lower board, both volumes with light rubbing at the edges and minor bumping at the corners. The contents, with light spotting to the text block edge and prelims, volume I with a small ink spot to the front free endpaper, are otherwise clean throughout and without stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the rubbed, nicked, creased and lightly marked original dustwrappers, both of which have a few short closed tears at the edges and small numerical inscriptions to the top edge of the front panels and prices written in pen on the front flaps. Volume II has a couple of longer closed tears at the spine which have been repaired with tape to the underside. Not price-clipped (Rs. 25/- on the front flaps).
