First edition, first printing. Signed by the author. Illustrated throughout with black and white photographs. Publisher's original green cloth with gilt titles to the spine and compass illustration to the lower right of the upper board, in dustwrapper. A better than very good copy, the binding tight and square, with bumping and rubbing to the spine ends and corners. The contents are clean throughout and free from inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the rubbed, creased and nicked dustwrapper, that has two short closed tears to the front panel and a larger tear to the rear panel, with some toning along the top edge. Not price clipped (35s net to the front flap).

Signed by the author in blue ink to the title page "H.L.H Harrison / December 1969". An account of the author's experiences in the Malaya Peninsula, first as a mining engineer travelling throughout the region, and later his escape to Java when the Japanese invaded in 1941. Scarce signed.
