First edition, remainder issue. Publisher's original blue cloth with black titles to the spine and upper board, in the Bip Pares illustrated dustwrapper. Illustrated with a frontispiece, 15 further black and white photographic plates and two maps. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm, with mild bumping to the spine tips. The contents, with a previous owner's name to the front endpaper, are lightly spotted to the first and last pages and closed text block edge. Complete with the very good rubbed and creased dustwrapper, that is toned and lightly spotted to the spine and panel edges. Not price clipped (5/- to the front flap).

The first printing was issued in black cloth with gilt titles to the spine and a yellow and red dustwrapper, priced at 12/6. This later or remainder issue uses the sheets of the first edition in a cheaper binding and dustwrapper priced at 5s. The British explorer, botanist, and geographer Ronald Kaulback's account of his 1933 journey to Tibet, initially as part of the botanist Frank Kingdon Ward's expedition.
