Author's specially bound copy of the first edition, first printing. Together with the first edition, first printing of the published book and an original 'Bom' artwork by R. Paul Höye. Author's bound copy: White faux leather with gilt titles on a red morocco label to the spine. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, with some light marks to the boards, a bump to the fore-edge of the upper board and light rubbing to the spine label. The contents, with light spotting to the top edge of the closed text block, a few spots to the last pages and light dustiness to the extremities of the boards, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Regular first edition: Publisher's original illustrated boards by R. Paul Höye, with dustwrapper. Illustrated throughout in colour by R. Paul Höye. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, with bumping to the spine ends and rubbing to the extremities (mainly along the bottom edge of the boards). The contents, with light spotting to the top edge of the closed text block are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the better than very good, rubbed and creased dustwrapper, that has a few nicks to the folds and is otherwise without fading, loss or tears. Not price-clipped (6/- to the front flap). Original artwork: Gouache on paper with black acetate overlay, featuring Bom, an elephant and monkey, possibly from 'Bom the Little Toy Drummer' the first book in the Bom series published in 1956. 11cm x 13cm. Unsigned. The colours bright, with a little toning to the bottom edge (not affecting the image) and two cracks in the acetate (6cm and 2.5cm long).
