First editions, first printings. Publisher's original dark green full morocco with a scenic view in gilt to the upper boards and gilt titles to the spines. Illustrated with 103 wonderful photographic plates (Vol. 1: 36, Vol. 2: 33, Vol. 3: 34). Very good copies, the bindings with wear to the extremities, particularly the corners and heads and tails of the spines, and some fading to the spines/edges of the boards. Volume 1 has been re-backed and the hinges repaired, there is a little splitting to the top of the spine and bash to the upper board. Volume 2 has some water marking to the spine and upper board and cracking to the front and rear inner hinges. Volume 3 has cracking to the front and rear inner hinges. Internally, volume 1 has a little water staining to some margins, volume 2 has some very minor insect damage to the top corner of the prelims and water staining stretching between 1-2 inches from the fore-edge, and volumes 2 and 3 have a partially removed previous owner's signature to the reverse of the frontispieces. Otherwise, the contents of all three volumes are in good order.
