First edition in English. Publisher's original cream card covers illustrated with a drawing in black by John Behan. An excellent near fine copy, the binding square and tight, the covers very slightly rubbed and marked. The contents are clean throughout and without previous owners' inscriptions or stamps.
Tomas Tranströmer, perhaps Sweden's greatest modern poet, was the recipient of 2011 Nobel Prize for Literature. 'För levande och döda' was first published in Sweden by Bonniers in 1989. The collection won the Nordic Council Literature Prize. This first English translation was issued by The Dedalus Press in a limited edition of 350 copies.
