THE POETRY OF MY POLITICS. My Many Lives: The Autobiography of Walter Lowenfels. Volume 2 [all published].

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth with titles in black to the spine, in dustwrapper. Fore-edge untrimmed. The dustwrapper a little short, as issued. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little rubbing to the boards. The contents with a touch of foxing to the endpapers and page edges are otherwise clean throughout and remain free from any previous owners' inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the almost very good, moderately rubbed and soiled, price-clipped dustwrapper which has two small, neat puncture holes to the front and rear panels and a little wear to the edges and tips of the spine.

The autobiographical musings of the American poet, journalist and left-wing activist Walter Lowenfels (1897-1976). A member of the Communist Party USA, he was a veteran campaigner for a variety of causes and was notably arrested by the FBI in 1953 for conspiracy to overthrow the government. Best known as an anthologist of avant-garde poetry, his most famous work was 'Where is Vietnam?' (1967), a compilation of the poetic responses to the Vietnam War.
