KING CAROL, HITLER AND LUPESCU

First edition, second impression before publication. The publisher's retained copy. Original blue cloth with titles in gilt to the spine, in dustwrapper. Illustrated with five black and white photographs. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little bumping to the extremities. The contents with the publisher's "File Copy" stamp to the front free endpaper, "Archive Copy" stamp to the title page, minor spotting to the edge of the textblock, and toning to pages are otherwise clean throughout. Complete with the dustwrapper, which has a little wear to the extremities, a small hole at the foot of the spine, the publisher's "File Copy" stamp to the front panel, and a small ink numeral notation to the rear.

"The inner history of Carol, ex-king of Roumania, his relations with the internationally famous yet virtually unknown Mme Lupescu, and the conflict with Hitler which cost Carol his crown, and led to his exile in Mexico". Provenance: From the archive of the publisher Victor Gollancz.
