The contents, with minor spotting to the prelims and closed page edges are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the rubbed and nicked dustwrapper that has a chip to the bottom corner of the front panel and a slightly faded spine. Scarce in dustwrapper.

A widely respected and highly readable account of the life of the sixteenth century self-made Emperor Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, better known as Shivaji. The author Dennis Kincaid was a civil servant in British India and the elder son of Charles Augustus Kincaid, a distinguished civil servant, and well-known novelist and historical writer. The book was published posthumously, the author died (aged 31) in a drowning accident whilst swimming in rough seas, shortly after completing the proof corrections.
