A DICTIONARY OF CHIVALRY

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth with titles in gilt to the spine, in dustwrapper. Profusely illustrated throughout in colour and black and white. A fine copy, apparently unread. The binding square and tight, the contents clean and crisp throughout and free from any previous owners' inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the fine dustwrapper which has a hint of fading to the spine. Not price-clipped (63s. net to the front flap). A superb copy.

A beautiful copy of the work for which Baynes won the 1968 Kate Greenaway Medal. The illustrator of C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia, as well as several works by J.R.R. Tolkein, it was the almost six hundred illustrations created for the present work of which Baynes ultimately stated that she was most proud, having laboured over them for nearly two years.
