A KIND OF LOVING

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original black cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in the scarce film tie-in dustwrapper. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the cloth and gilt bright and fresh. The contents, toned to the text block edge, are otherwise clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the very lightly rubbed and creased dustwrapper that is a touch dusty to the rear panel and otherwise without loss or tears. Not price-clipped (16s net to the lower front flap).

'Kitchen sink' author Stan Barstow's first published, and most celebrated, novel. Later adapted by Keith Waterhouse and Willis Hall, into the John Schlesinger directed film of the same name, starring Alan Bates, June Ritchie and Thora Hird. The earliest and most common state of dustwrapper featured artwork across the front panel and spine by Adrian Bailey. This scarce film tie-in dustwrapper was evidently issued on remaining stock of the first edition, prior to its April 1962 release.
