A TABLE NEAR THE BAND

First edition, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth with gilt titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm with a little bumping to the corners, the cloth bright and fresh with a little faint mottling. The contents, very lightly spotted to the front endpaper and with a bookseller's paper label to the rear pastedown, are otherwise clean throughout and without stamps or inscriptions. Complete with the lightly rubbed and nicked dustwrapper which has a few short closed tears to the edges and some light spotting to the rear panel. Not price-clipped (8s 6d to the front flap). An attractive example, uncommon thus.

Though best known for his hugely popular 'Winnie-the-Pooh' series, A. A. Milne also wrote for an adult audience throughout his entire career, including novels, plays, essays and, as in this volume, short stories.
