A fine copy, the binding square and tight, the cloth bright and fresh. The contents, with the publisher's compliments slip loosely laid in, are clean throughout. Complete with the very lightly rubbed dustwrapper that is darkened to the rear panel and otherwise without loss or tears. Not price-clipped (18s net to the lower front flap).

Inscribed by the author in blue ink on the front free endpaper "For Mary George / with love and best wishes / Robert Aickman / November 1964". The author's first solo collection of supernatural tales. The recipient was a close friend and neighbour of the author and the future joint dedicatee of his 1975 story collection 'Cold Hand In Mine'.
