ELIZABETH I AND HER PARLIAMENTS: Two Volumes: 1559-1581 & 1584-1601.

First editions, first printings. Original red cloth with gilt lettering to the spine and portcullis monogram to the front panel, red top-stains, in dustwrappers. A fine set, apparently unread, the bindings tight and square, the contents clean and without inscriptions or stamps. There's a small bump to the outer top corner of Vol. 2. In the bright, clean dustwrappers, showing the merest toning to the spines, a handful of tiny surface scuffs and some minimal rubbing to upper corners. Not price-clipped and correctly priced (Vol. 1: 25s net; Vol. 2: 30s net). A near immaculate set of this classic work of early modern parliamentary history.

"More than forty years ago Professor Neale set out to collect every scrap of evidence bearing on the history of the Elizabethan parliaments and to write their history from knowledge as complete as it might be possible to obtain. The present book marks the fulfilment of his early and lofty ambition." (from G. R. Elton's review of the second volume).
