THE BERLIN STORIES. Two Stories: The Last of Mr. Norris [Mr. Norris Changes Trains]; Goodbye to Berlin.

First combined edition, first printing. Inscribed by the author. Publisher's original grey cloth with black titles to the spine, in dustwrapper. A better than very good copy, the binding square and firm with minor bumping at the spine tips. The contents are clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the lightly rubbed dustwrapper that is a little toned at the extremities but without loss or large tears. Not price-clipped ($3.50 to the bottom right corner of the front flap).

Inscribed by the author in black ink on the front endpaper "With best wishes / Christopher Isherwood / Dec 11. 1951". The first combined edition of Isherwood's two Berlin novels, originally published in the UK by The Hogarth Press under the titles Mr. Norris Changes Trains (1935) and Goodbye To Berlin (1939). The novels form the basis for the 1972 Oscar winning film Cabaret, starring Liza Minnelli and Michael York.
