First edition, first printing. Original pale green striped paper-covered boards with titles in gilt on black to the spine and an illustration in black to the upper board, in dustwrapper. Top edge red, now faded. Illustrated throughout with black and white drawings by Edward Ardizzone. A very good or better copy, the binding firm with minor bumping to the spine tips. Top edge a little faded. The contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. The closed fore-edge is a little spotted. Complete with the lightly rubbed and nicked Edward Ardizzone illustrated dustwrapper that is faded to the spine. Not price clipped (18s. net to the front flap).
