The screenplay written by Michael Palin for the 1982 British comedy film directed by Richard Loncraine. 125 pages including yellow and pink revision sheets, plus 5 pages of cast list and contacts information. With the ownership name in pencil, and dialogue emendations in ink of the first assistant film editor Elaine Thomas. In very good condition, minor wear and creasing to the extremities as expected of a working document.

Next to the printed statement 'A screenplay / by / Michael Palin', on the cover page Michael Palin (Rev Charles Fortescue) has inscribed in blue ink"made much better by Elaine / signed / Michael Palin / [jokingly adding] (in his absence)"; also signed by Maggie Smith (Lady Isabel Ames); Denholm Elliott (The Bishop); Michael Hordern (Slatterthwaite [and narrator]); Janine Duvitski (Millicent [Lady Ames' maid]). Loosely laid in is a printed slip purporting to be the Rev Charles Fortescue on Gumby Corporation Limited letterhead reading "Lots of thanks for all your missionary work" and signed by Palin (as Fortescue) in blue ink. One of a handful of films produced by the Beatle George Harrison in collaboration with Monty Python members under the HandMade Films company.
