THE SHAW-BARKER LETTERS Bernard Shaw's Letters to Granville Barker.

First edition, first printing. Original pink cloth with gilt lettering to the spine, in dustwrapper. A very near fine copy, the binding tight and square, the purple topstain unfaded; the only blemish some offsetting to the front free endpaper from two sheets of typed review notes loosely laid in. In the near fine dustwrapper, minimally toned to the spine. Not price-clipped and correctly priced (25s. net) to the rear flap.

Covering the years 1900-42, these letters document the friendship between two giants of the theatre. Harley Granville Barker is best known for his play, "The Voysey Inheritance" and the series of "Prefaces to Shakespeare". From the library of the author and cultural editor of Kvällsposten magazine, Henrik Sjögren. The typed notes (for a review) laid in are in a mixture of Swedish and English.
