First edition, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth with titles in gilt to the upper board and spine. Top edge gilt. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and numerous black and white plates throughout. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with minor rubbing to the corners and a little fading and a few marks to the spine. The contents with some light scattered foxing are otherwise clean throughout and free from any previous owners' inscriptions or stamps.
