A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean throughout with light toning and a few faint spots to the closed text-block edge. Complete with the lightly rubbed dustwrapper which is very slightly faded to the spine and has some dustiness to the bottom corners of the front and rear panels. The sequel and conclusion to Van Vogt's 'Empire of the Atom', the story of a mutant ruler in an interplanetary, future medieval society in which the elements and the atom form the basis of the culture's religion. It was originally serialised in Astounding Science Fiction magazine in 1950 and was first published in book form in Germany by Terra Sonderband in 1961.
