The third edition. Nineteenth century mottled calf, five double ruled bands and titles in gilt on a black morocco label to the spine. 12mo. [vi] 209pp. Bound with two red silk page markers, frayed at the ends. Illustrated with nine full page engravings. A very good copy, the binding rubbed to the extremities with short splits at the ends of the upper joint but holding firm. The contents, with only minor spotting to a couple of pages are otherwise clean throughout.
The first edition was published in 1767, a second in 1770 with further printings throughout the late 18th and early 19th centuries. All are seemingly scarce in commerce (rarebookhub recording just five copies at auction since 1919, only one of which is the 1774 third edition).
