First edition with these illustrations. Original beige cloth with gilt titles and illustration to the front and spine. Profusely illustrated with 40 tipped in colour plates, each with captioned tissue guards, and many black and white illustrations throughout. A very good or better copy, the binding firm with a little bumping to the spine tips and corners, the cloth generally clean with a few light marks and some toning to the spine. The contents are entirely complete and free from inscriptions or stamps. A few signatures are cracked at the gutter but holding firm with light foxing and toning to the pages throughout. Small closed tear to the margin of one leaf (page 17). All of the plates remain in fine condition.
