FRANKENSTEIN, OR THE MODERN PROMETHEUS

First edition with these illustrations, first printing. Publisher's original cloth with wraparound illustration after a design by Harry Brockway, titles in silver to the spine, in slipcase. Illustrated with a frontispiece and none further full page drawings in black and white by Harry Brockway. Printed on Caxton Wove paper. Housed in the original black card slipcase. A fine copy of the beautiful presented edition, the binding square and firm, the contents spotlessly clean throughout. Housed in the structurally sound slipcase that has a few light marks.

The first edition was published in three volumes, without illustrations in 1818, with a straightforward reprint in two volumes following in 1823. A third edition, substantially revised and with a new introduction by the author was first issued in 1831. The text of this newly illustrated edition follows that of the 1831 printing, with minor emendations. Miranda Seymour's introduction is printed here for the first time,
