First edition with these illustrations, first printing. Original blue cloth with illustrations and titles to the spine and upper board in gilt, red and white. Top edge blue. Illustrated with 17 colour plates and black and white decorations throughout by Charles Van Sandwyk. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm, the contents clean throughout and without stamps or inscriptions, with three light spots to the fore-edge of the closed text-block. Housed in the near fine original slipcase.

Including some of the most popular fairy tales such as 'Beauty and the Beast', 'The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods', 'Cinderella', 'Little Red Riding Hood', and 'Rumpelstiltzkin'.
