THE GHOUL

First Readers Library edition. Publisher's burgundy paper covered boards with gilt titles to the upper board and spine, in the 'Draycott' illustrated dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding a little rubbed and bumped to the spine tips and corners is square and firm. The contents, heavily toned to the pulp paper-stock are otherwise clean and without inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the rubbed and torn dustwrapper that has several small chips with little in the way of loss. Scarce.

Technically the first film tie-in edition, as the last paragraph of the editor's note is given over to the slightly modified plot of the story for film purposes. Produced by Gaumont British Pictures 'The Ghoul', starring Boris Karloff (in the role of Professor Morlant) and Ralph Richardson in his movie debut, is credited as being the first major horror film produced in England.
