THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES BY MEANS OF NATURAL SELECTION Or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life.

Sixth edition, with additions and corrections (Thirteenth Thousand). Publisher's original green cloth with gilt titles to the spine. 8vo. xxii, 458pp. Folding diagram. Brown coated endpapers. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with some rubbing and fraying to the spine tips and corners. The contents are entirely complete, without loose or torn pages and the hinges sound. Other than a little spotting to the prelims and diagram the pages remain clean throughout.

Sixth edition, fourth issue (marked "thirteenth thousand" and dated 1873 on the title page). Darwin continually made revisions to his text. The sixth edition, being the last lifetime edition, features a new chapter (chapter VII) and a glossary by W. S. Dallas. Provenance: from the library of Martin Stone.
