A collection of 38 short stories by Jack McDevitt, with the title story 'Cryptic' his first nomination (of 16) for a Nebula Award, which he would go on to win in 2005 for 'Seeker'. He has also received a Campbell Award for 'Omega' (2004), the International UPC Science Fiction Award for 'Ships in the Night' (1993) and the Robert A. Heinlein Award in 2015.
