Publisher's original boards featuring an illustration by Les Edwards, in the Tom Gianni illustrated dustwrappers. Housed in the burgundy rexine covered slipcase with gilt titles and illustration to one side. Illustrated with four full page plates in volume I, and two in volume II. Both books are in fine condition, the bindings square and tight, the contents clean throughout and without previous owner's marks. Complete with the fine original dustwrappers that are without fading, loss or tears. The slipcase is also fine and structurally sound. Scarce in this form.

Issued in a limited edition of 100 copies, this is example is numbered 21 and signed by Basil Copper and Stephen Jones in volume I, and signed by the artists Randy Broeker, Les Edwards, Bob Eggleton, Gary Gianni, Thomas Gianni and Alan Koszowski in volume II. Stephen Jones contributes an introduction 'Once a Pons a Time' and three further pieces 'Solar Pons Plot and Dialogue Notes', 'The Adventure of Northleach Stocks', 'Painting Pons: Artist Ben Stahl'. Based on the characters and series created by August Derleth, who himself based the characters on Sherlock Holmes. On Derleth's death in 1971, Arkham House authorised British author Basil Copper to continue the series.
