First edition, first printing. Signed and inscribed by the author to Harry Nathan, 1st Baron Nathan. Publisher's original blue cloth with titles in silver to the spine, in dustwrapper. Illustrated with six black and white maps. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a touch of fading to the edges of the boards and a little bumping to corners. The contents are clean and bright throughout and remain free from any previous owners' inscriptions or stamps. Complete with the dustwrapper which has a v-shaped chip to the head of the rear panel, a splash mark to the foot of the spine and some minor chips and nicks to the extremities. Not price-clipped (35/- net to the front flap).
Signed and inscribed by Anthony Eden to Harry Nathan in blue ink on the front free endpaper "Inscribed in friendship / for / Harry Nathan / by / Anthony Eden / 1961". The first published volume of Eden's memoirs, covering the post-war period and including his tenure as Prime Minister, most prominently defined by the Suez Crisis. The present copy is inscribed by Eden to Harry Nathan, 1st Baron Nathan (1889-1963), a Liberal and later Labour politician who served as Under-Secretary of State for War and then Minister for Civil Aviation under the Attlee administration of 1945-51. A scarce title signed.
