An account of "Le Camp de Drap d'Or", the 1520 meeting between Henry VIII & Francis I of France which took place at Balinghem, near Calais. A central event in the history of England and France, the affair was a no expense spared lavish recreation of a Medieval Chivalric Tournament, staged with the idea of building relations between England and France following the Treaty of London in 1518. Hospitalities were however short lived when later in the same year England forged an alliance with Philip of Castile, The Holy Roman Emperor who then declared war on France.
