First edition, first printing. Inscribed by the author. Original black cloth with silver lettering to the spine, with bright yellow endpapers, in dustwrapper. A very near fine copy, the binding tight and square, the contents clean and without marks or inscriptions. The dustwrapper is nicked and rubbed at both spine tips (with a half-centimetre spot of loss where the rear panel meets the spine), otherwise bright and complete. Unclipped and correctly priced ($7.95) to the front flap.

Inscribed by the author "To Lars / Cheers / Norman Mailer" in blue ink to the half title. Mailer's account of the 1974 World Heavyweight bout between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman very quickly attained classic status. "[A] book that can be read, quickly, as a dramatic first-hand account of one of the greatest of all sporting events of last century, and then again, more slowly, for the detail and acuity of its psychological insights and for the forceful fluency of its rhetorical, endlessly inventive style." (Jason Cowley, in The Observer, 2005)
