First edition, first printing. Original pale red cloth with gilt lettering to the spine, in dustwrapper. A very good copy, the binding tight and square, the contents clean without inscriptions or stamps. The cloth is faded to the spine tips (1cm at each end) and to a patch (c. 3 x 2cm) of the lower portion of the spine; the fading corresponds to associated loss to the wrapper. In addition to this loss and a couple of further 1cm patches of loss to the lower edge (one each to front and rear), the dustwrapper is moderately rubbed and scuffed (there are a number of light scratches to the pale blue rear panel) but otherwise intact, unclipped and correctly priced (25s net to the front flap). Scarce with the dustwrapper.

An account of Ross's summer journey to Sardinia. Illustrated throughout with photographs by A. Costa.
