First edition. Publisher's original green cloth with titles in gilt to the spine. Page edges untrimmed. Yellow endpapers. Errata slip tipped-in following the preface. A near fine copy, the binding square and firm with some minor marking to the spine and a touch of wear to the corners. The contents with the occasional mark or spot to page margins are otherwise in very good order and clean throughout.
An unusual Orientalist epic poem concerning the deeds and adventures of "the Assassins", "a formidable sect among the followers of Mahomet" who carry out various nefarious, clandestine activities (especially murders) on behalf of the Sheik, with a colourful six-page introductory essay outlining their history. A scarce title, and apparently remaining unattributed. Only four institutional copies are recorded on Copac (BL, Cambridge, Oxford, Nat. Lib. Scotland).
